MY STORY

Many ex-JWs don’t talk about their lived experiences because any negative statement about the cult, no matter how truthful, will jeopardize family and friend relationships with those still in it. I lived most of my life in silence about my experiences due to fear, shame and a misguided sense of duty to uphold public appearances. This video is the first time I’ve told my story in its entirety to another person. It was incredibly cathartic! The relationships lost by being honest were replaced by even deeper ones based on truth and authenticity. There is so much power in owning your story. It is our stories, the real ones, that connect us.
